Zaksa and Sarmaye Bank debut in Men’s Club World Championship

 

Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle of Poland will host Sarmaye Bank in Opole as they make their debut in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship

Opole, Poland, December 12, 2017 – Poland’s Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Iran’s Sarmaye Bank will make their debut in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Pool A.


Head-to-head
• Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Sarmaye Bank are both making their debut at the men's club world championships.
• Polish teams are unbeaten in their men's club world championships matches against Iranian sides. Skra Belchatów beat Paykam Teheran twice and Jastrzebski Wegiel claimed one victory against them.

Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle
• Hosts Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle will appear at the men's club world championships for the first time.
• Poland will host the competition for the first time. The last time a European country hosted the men's club world championships was in Treviso, Italy in 1992.
• Zaksa will be the third Polish team to participate in the men's club world championships after Skra Belchatów and Jastrzebski Wegiel. A team from Poland has yet to win the competition.
• Zaksa are the 2017 Polish champions. They beat Skra Belchatów in the final. They also defeated Skra Belchatów in the Polish Cup final this year.

Sarmaye Bank
• Sarmaye Bank are making their debut at the men's club world championships.
• They are the fourth team from Iran to appear in the competition, after Matin Varamin, Kalleh Mazandaran and Paykan Teheran.
• The only Iranian side to finish on the podium at the men's club world championships is Paykan Teheran: third in 2010.
• Sarmaye qualified for tournament after winning the 2016 Asian Club Championships. They successfully defended their title last July.
