Sada Cruzeiro Volei and Sarmaye Bank meet for the first time

 

Sada Cruzeiro Volei will meet Shanghai Volleyball Club for the first time in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship

Opole, Poland, December 13, 2017 - Defending champions Sada Cruzeiro Volei of Brazil and Sarmaye Bank of Iran hope to recover from their opening day losses when they play each other for the first time in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.


Head-to-head
• Sarmaye Bank and Sada Cruzeiro Volei will meet for the first time at the men's club world championships.
• Sada Cruzeiro Volei won both of their previous meetings with Iranian sides in the competition: 3-0 against Matin Varamin in the 2014 group stages and 3-0 versus Paykan Teheran in the 2015 semifinals.
• Sada Cruzeiro suffered only one club world championships defeat against a team representing the AVC: 3-1 against Qatari side Al-Rayyan in the 2014 semifinals.

Sarmaye Bank
• Sarmaye Bank saw a two-set lead evaporate against ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle on Tuesday, losing 3-2.
• The debutants could become the third Iranian team to start a men’s club world championship campaign with two defeats, after Paykan Teheran and Kalleh Mazandaran, who lost all three of their matches in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
• Three Sarmaye Bank players reached at least 20 points in the match against ZAKSA, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour Muziraji (24), Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi (21) and Shahram Mahmoudi (20).

Sada Cruzeiro Volei
• For the first time ever, Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei lost their opening match in a preliminary round of a men’s club world championship. Previously they had always won at least the first two preliminary round matches.
• On Tuesday, Lube Civitanova proved too strong for Sada Cruzeiro Volei in Opole: 3-0.
• Sada Cruzeiro Volei won the tournament in three of the last four seasons, including in the last two. They reached the final in four of their five participations.
• Robertlandy Simon Aties (11 points) and Evandro Guerra (10) were the only players with 10+ points in the first match, in which Sada Cruzeiro Volei tallied only 55 points.
