Mahdavi: “We are working hard for the best possible performance in Poland”

Sarmayeh Bank captain Mehdi Mahdavi will be in action at the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship in December

Tehran, Iran, October 28, 2017 – Sarmayeh Bank captain Mehdi Mahdavi retired from the Iranian national team after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, but is still very active on the club volleyball scene and will see action in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship from December 12 to 17 in Poland.

“We are all working hard for the best possible performance in Poland,” Mahdavi said. “I think the upcoming tournament will be much harder than the Olympic Games because the clubs at the World Championship have the world’s best players.”

His club Sarmayeh Bank has one of the top teams in Iranian Premier League and won consecutive titles in the Asian Men’s Club Championship in 2016 and 2017.

The Iranian setter now also gets to spend more time with his six-year-old daughter Golboo. He also finds time to support important causes. He recently became the centre of media attention in the fourth week of the Iranian Premier League when he entered the court sporting a shaved head in support of children’s cancer awareness.
