CEV Champions League gets underway

 

Zenit Kazan are the CEV Champions League title-holders

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 17, 2017 – A new edition of the CEV Champions League begins on Tuesday with Russia’s Zenit Kazan set to begin their title defence later in the competition. The European champions will also participate in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship in Poland from December 12 to 17.

The second round of the 2018 Champions League, which features Europe’s elite clubs, is set to get underway with the men’s competition on Wednesday with four matches hosted by the national champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Israel and Kosovo taking on opponents from Slovenia, Montenegro, Belarus and the Netherlands.

Zenit Kazan will begin their title-defence in the fourth round of the competition to gain their fourth-straight CEV Champions League title and earn another chance to improve on their last two silver finishes at the Men’s Club World Championship behind Brazilian club Sada Cruzeiro.



Meanwhile, reigning women’s club world champions VakifBank Istanbul will also attempt to defend their title in the CEV Champions League. The women's competition begins on Tuesday with five matches on the schedule.
